Medication Policy
We encourage the administration of medication before and after school hours whenever possible. However, if your health care provider decides it is necessary for your child to receive medication during the school day, we must have an Authorization for Medication Form completed by both the health care provider and the parent. Both the health care provider and the parent must complete a new form any time the medication or dosage is changed. Students must NOT transport medications to and from school. An adult must bring medications to the office and pick them up from the office. The medication to be given must be sent to school in the original container in which it was purchased. No medication will be given by school personnel until the above requirements are met. This is to protect your child from injury. We take no responsibility for students who self-medicate. An Authorization for Medication Form must be on file in the school office before any medication can be given to a student at school.
Health Assessment
All students entering NC public schools for the first time must be in compliance with NC Health assessment requirements (GS 130A-440). The health assessment shall be made no more than 12 months prior to the date of school entry. Any student not in compliance after 30 days will be excluded from school until proof of compliance is received.
